Falling is a normal part of learning how to skate. The key is to fall correctly to avoid injury.
How to Fall Safely
- Avoid falling backward by keeping your knees bent and weight slightly forward.
- If you feel yourself falling, try to land on your side rather than your wrists.
- Tuck your hands in to prevent them from getting run over by other skaters.
How to Get Back Up
- Roll over to your hands and knees.
- Place one foot up, then push yourself up with the other foot.
- Keep your knees bent to regain balance.
